John W. Kellison, 85, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the West Virginia Veteran’s Nursing Facility in Clarksburg. He was born at Lumberport on August 19, 1931.
John is survived by one son, John W. Kellison of Rockford, IL; one daughter, Diana Hoover and husband David of Rockford, IL; four grandchildren: Lindsay K. Duggan, Jennifer Rae Stockton, Joey Kellison, and Diana K. Kellison; seven great-grandchildren: Curtis, Isabella, Cloe, JJ, Jaelyn, Katelyn, and Jax; and one great-great granddaughter, Sophie.
John was preceded in death by one son, Rick Kellison.
John was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War, and was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked for 30 years at the local glass factories, retiring from Anchor Hocking, and then later worked at the Rosebud Foodland. John loved volunteering and was a proud volunteer at the VA Hospital, logging over 23k hours of service. He was also a member of the VFW, a lover of animals, and enjoyed digging ramps when he was able.
