Shirley Ann Lively, 78, of Clarksburg, WV, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. She was born on January 13, 1939, in Clarksburg, to the late William and Emily Poe.
Shirley graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1957. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph for seven years. While there, she studied music education at Duquesne University. Later, she pursued a career in teaching with a degree from Fairmont State College. She taught in the Harrison County School System for several years. She was teaching at Nutter Fort Elementary when she met her husband, William. Shirley gave piano lessons in her home, and shared her love of music with several children in the Clarksburg area. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She has been to every state in the lower 48. For many years, she and her husband would spend the winter in Ocala, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Isaac Haller, and several aunts and uncles.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 45 years, William Lively of Clarksburg; two daughters: Susan Ferguson (David) of Arthurdale, WV, and Sharon Haller (Chuck) of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren: Christopher Ferguson (Kalyn) of Rivesville, Angela Ferguson of Nutter Fort, Emily Smith (Joel) of Charleston, S.C., Chad Haller (Morgan) of San Antonio, TX, Mandi Murphy (Ian) of Marshallton, DE, and Jenni Haller of St. Louis, MO; three great-grandchildren: Harper and Hayden Smith and Max Haller; one aunt, Vicky Ayoob; and several cousins across the country.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10am with Pastor Don Fowler presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Clarksburg.
