William A. “Bill” Wetzel, 66, of Fairmont, WV passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. He was born in Clarksburg on September 21, 1951 a son of the late Hensley S. “Bud” Wetzel and Melva Jo Glaspell Wetzel.
Bill is survived by three sons: Lance Adam Wetzel of Cleveland, OH, Daniel Ivan Wetzel and wife Misty of Fairmont, and William Russell Wetzel and wife Iveth Adriana of Monroe, NC; his fiancé Shirley Griffith; two brothers: Donald J. Wetzel, and Buddy Wetzel and wife Ruth all of Sardis; five grandchildren: Desiree Wetzel, Damion Wetzel, Sydney Stalnaker, Madison Wetzel, and London Wetzel; and five great-grandchildren: Nathan, Nicholas, Joey, Sophia, and Joshua. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
William was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam war. He worked various jobs over the years, but more recently as a machine operator with Chase Bag in Ohio. He loved building model cars, reading Tom Clancy novels, and watching old John Wayne movies. Bill also enjoyed puzzle books and playing cards with his family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11am with Rev. Garry Layfield presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be accorded.
